The ARC keeps your arm off the top of the instrument, allowing it to resonate the way it was intended. The unique profile is softer than any other armrest out there, thus making it more comfortable and ergonomic.
Some of the more popular woods used to make the ARCs are Ebony, East Indian Rosewood, Mahogany, Curly Maple, Walnut, and Wenge. The ARC can be made from a variety of other woods though and I am working on increasing my stock with demand rising. For Ideas on wood possibilities you can have a look at our Wood page or check out East Coast Specialty Hardwood or Halifax Specialty Hardwood. Keep in mind that the wood you're looking for may or may not be in stock at the moment.
If you're looking for your ARC to really pop here are some wood options that I know I can get my hands on: Purple Heart, Bocote, Zebra wood, Cocobolo, Birdseye Maple, Blood wood, Cedar, Red Oak, Palm, Olive, and many more! Note that prices may vary for certain wood choices.
The ARC is held on by a 1/4" wide strip of double sided adhesive. This adhesive is strong but completely removable and ensures that the minimum amount of material touches your instrument's top. Check out the pictures below to see a bit more .
The Profile of The ARC is unlike any other Armrest out there. It is custom made, not only for the instrument but also for the player. Each ARC is fitted and cut precisely to your instrument and is guaranteed to fit every time. The ARC is sleek and made of top quality wood that will match your instrument. They are more comfortable and engineered to take up and contact less surface area.
The adhesive that I use is very strong but there's a few tricks to installing your ARC. First is if you put pressure on it it will adhere immediately but if you place it lightly it can be removed and replaced if you do so quickly.
Do a dry run and use guides on the edges of the ARC. Place the edges first because if the edges are lined up then the rest of the arc will sit perfectly since this is made exactly to the shape of your guitar. I'll soon have a video up to show the install process!
If you have installed and you'd like to reposition your ARC, use some dental floss. Starting on one side slowly saw at the tape with the floss. A hairdryer can help this process along but be careful not to stay in one place too long. The key is to take your time! Once you've removed the ARC you'll need to replace the adhesive since the old strip will l no longer be usable. You can pick up 1/4" mounting tape from the automotive section at Canadian Tire (if you're in Canada). I'll be making videos to show these steps soon!
Good question! I had a dreadnaught that I just couldn't play anymore because I found it too big and it would hurt my arm when I played it. When I installed an ARC, the opposite actually happened. I didn't notice the extra height and it was actually easier to play! The curvature is made to angle your arm towards the bridge and where your hand should be. Although there is some height difference, you will quickly adapt and be even more comfortable than before!
Although we can not guarantee that The ARC will fit every case out there, The ARC is no taller than the bridge of your guitar so it shouldn't interfere with most cases on the market unless they are very tightly fit.
Absolutely! I can ship to almost anywhere in the world and you can check out the Prices and Ordering page to see exactly what you need to get started.
The ARC is held in place by a 0.25" wide adhesive. Strong bond with little contact!
Each ARC is made to fit the exact profile of your instrument.
Minimum contact with maximum benefit!
